LeRoy

May 20, 2012

LeRoy is currently experiencing homelessness. Unlike many other people we interview, he is homeless by choice. He wants to be homeless so he can reach out to others who might need some light, guidance and support.

LeRoy believes that you can’t help someone unless you understand his/her individual needs. You can do this simply by listening. “Then you can see to apply whatever medicine they might need.” Check out this videoclip to hear him address this in his own words.

LeRoy is currently working on a business venture to fund a community center.  The center is a safe, dry place for people to spend time at during the day when they have nowhere else to go. His business venture includes making and selling hats. He is currently training people to make the hats, and has secured studio space to start producing them. We look forward to watching his business grow!

In addition to giving us time to interview him and hear his story, LeRoy also volunteered to take photos of what his day-to-day life is like living in poverty. Below are some of the photographs he took.
